We are forward-thinking inclusive school striving for excellence to enable our children to achieve their highest potential through a purposeful and exciting curriculum.   We aim for all children to leave Colton Primary school as happy, healthy and active individuals who will succeed in making a positive contribution within our rapidly changing world.
 
Our Ethos
 
At Colton we take pride in our   learning by holding the highest expectations of all our staff and pupils and knowing the children well. We ensure all children will strive for academic, creative, sporting and personal accomplishment within a broad, vibrant and enriched curriculum. Risk taking, perseverance and resilience is celebrated throughout school.
 
We encourage children to take ownership of and responsibility for their learning, so they have the confidence and curiosity to ask questions, solve problems and respond to quality feedback embedding a positive attitude to their learning.  Children are praised for hard work, determination and having a positive attitude.

High quality teaching is a key priority at Colton and the relationship between staff and children underpins inspirational, supportive and effective teaching and learning.  Staff are actively involved in identifying their support and training needs and this leads to careers with clear progression. We ensure that there is a wide range of quality training available and that staff are able to learn from each other and share good practice.

We foster open and honest communication with parents, carers and specialists and actively seek to engage with all members of the Colton community in a positive and supportive manner.

Everyday we  promote an ethos of  respect and empathy, where diversity is valued and  celebrated. We play an active role in  developing a strong pupil voice  so that children have a say in decisions within school that affect them. We have created an inclusive school where everyone can flourish and  leave as  independent learners with self-belief and a respect for others.
